When search engine optimizing your content and websites for higher Google search engine rankings, it is very important to choose keywords that you actually have a shot at ranking for. So before taking any steps towards creating your content or web pages you should first do some Google keyword research to determine which keywords or keyword phrases to build your content around.
How to research keywords using free Keyword Research:
If you dont want to buy one of the pay keyword tools you can simply use the Google keyword research tool which is a great tool in itself, it just takes a little more time.
Okay before we get started talking about analyzing keywords lets define some terms well be using. For keywords you have your broadest terms (known as Markets), these can be broken down into smaller more targeted groups called a niche, these can be broken down even further into a micro niche.
Concentrate on finding keywords in the "niche" or "micro niche" keywords categories when doing your research. "Market" keywords are far to difficult to rank for on google due to the large number of websites competing for those spots. As an example Network Marketing (11,800,000 sites listed) will be way harder to rank for on Google than Network Marketing Tips (101,000 sites listed)
Finding these "niche" and "micro niche" keywords is easy. Just go to the google keyword tool and drill down from your "market" keywords. Type these keywords into the tool and "get keyword ideas." After sorting by approximate search volume narrow these words down to the ones with between 10,000 and 1,000 searches.
